Character, Narcissism and Neuroplasticity
Sid Perzow MD, Hassan Azim MD, Elie Debbane MD
6 hours CME Credit
The Western Branch of the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society is pleased to present its Annual Scientific Meeting to interested clinicians. This year’s topic is titled “ Character, Narcissism and Neuro-plasticity“. Our presenters, Drs. Perzow, Debbane and Azim will provide three unique viewpoints on their understanding of character and its development. For Dr. Perzow, character is understood as a systemic matrix of four psychobiological nodes: Identity, Initiative, Integrity and Intrigue which are expressed in terms of zest for living, engagement, robustness, resilience and reliability. Dr. Azim addresses character in light of modern neuroscience. Dr. Debbane will address character from the familiar myth of Narcissus. Through the use of a vignette, he will illustrate the vicissitudes of the element of illusion contained in the myth. In the process, we hope to generate discussion as to how each of these perspectives has impact on the clinical understanding of our patients. |
The event is an accredited activity as designed by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. |
